Valerie Lynn Key, age 58, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at CHI Saint Joseph Health-Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. Valerie was born to the late Hillary and Mary Jo Coleman on December 29, 1963 in Lebanon, Kentucky. She was a hard worker, holding positions at both Mouser Kitchens and Toyotomi-America over the years. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, and loved to sing and dance. Valerie was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 14, 1984, and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Rick Hayden, her step-daughter Tanisha De’Nee Keene, and, most recently, her mother, Mary Jo Coleman on September 22, 2020 and her father, Hillary Coleman, Sr., on February 9, 2022.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Nicole Coleman, her husband of nearly 33 years, Steven Martin Key, six brothers, James Hillary Coleman, (Libby), Gregory Allen Coleman (Linda), Willie Gene Coleman (Shanna), Gary Lee Coleman (Rochelle), Nicholas Bertram Coleman (Shawna), all of Springfield, and Ronald Wayne Coleman (Pamela) of Elizabethtown, four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Wright, Deborah Kay Coleman, and Frances Eileen Hayden, all of Springfield, Alysia Jeanette Gray (Dewayne), of Indianapolis, Indiana, two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a memorial talk being given at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Brother Caleb Million, all at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home. Face masks will be required at the funeral home. Burial will be private in the Coleman Family Cemetery. There will be no public bereavement meal.
Pallbearers will be her six brothers, Hillary, Gregory, Ronald, Willie, Gary and Nicholas, as well as Malachi Wright and Danny Joseph Key. Honorary pallbearers will be George Michael Wright II, Dewayne Gray, William Robert Key, and Thomas Anthony Key.
