Thomas Garland Shehan Jr.

Thomas Garland Shehan Jr. age 80, of Hopkinsville, KY, formerly of Springfield, died at 12:15 am Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at his residence.

Born December 30, 1941 in Springfield, he was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Garland Shehan and Mary Louise Abell Shehan, a son, John Walter Shehan, December 5, 2022 and a sister, Sue Gage Smith.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served at 8th & I Marine Barracks Honor Guard in Washington, D.C., served as a police officer for the City of Springfield in the early 70's, was a graduate of Eastern KY University and Tennessee State University, was a Criminal Justice Instructor at Hopkinsville Community College for 20 years, was a Horse Owner, Trainer and Driver with 74 wins as a Trainer and 59 wins as a Driver, was a member of the Marine Corps League and was a Catholic.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Delaney Shehan of Hopkinsville,  4 sons, Thomas Garland (Dawnelle) Shehan III of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Kenneth Scott (Donna) Shehan of Springfield, Stephen Price (Ken Cheri) Shehan of Huntington, West Virginia and Tyler Gage (Marna) Shehan of Hopkinsville, a sister, Mary Lou Hamilton of Lebanon, 7 grandchildren, Kenneth Scott Shehan Jr., Thomas Garland Shehan IV, Lindsay Grace Brown, Alyson Nicole Beard, Elizabeth Shehan Young, Austin Lee Shehan and Logan Marius Shehan, 4 great grandchildren, Evelyn Grace Shehan, Cora Shehan, Thomas Garland Shehan V and Luke Shehan.

Funeral services for Thomas Garland Shehan Jr. will be conducted at 11:00 Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. David Farrell officiating.  Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Military Honors will be conducted by Marion County Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Garland Shehan IV, Kenneth Scott Shehan Jr., Tyler Gage Shehan, Stephen Shehan, Jared Young and David Hamilton.

Visitation will be from 6:00 till 8:00 pm Wednesday and again from 7:00 am till time of service Thursday morning at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home.
