Dominican Sister of Peace Vincent dePaul Hutton, OP (111), a native of Cuba, Illinois, died on December 16, 2022, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Kentucky. Sr. Vincent is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Dominican for 89 years, Sr. Vincent earned a Bachelor of Arts in Math/Spanish from Nazareth College (Louisville, KY). She ministered as a teacher at St. Augustine (Jeffersonville, IN); St. Bartholomew (Chicago, IL); Rosary Academy (Watertown, MA); St. Louis Bertrand (Louisville, KY); Bishop McManus High (Aguadilla, PR) and St. James and John (McMechen, WV). Sr. Vincent also served as principal/teacher at St. Augustine (Reed, KY); Colegio San Carlos (Aguadilla, PR); Bishop Donahue High and St. James (McMechen, WV). In 1985, Sr. Vincent moved to St. Catharine Motherhouse, St. Catharine, Kentucky, where she assumed the role of assistant bookkeeper in the finance department and did the books for St. Catharine Farm. In 1999, Sister decided to retire but continued to provide community service by working in the recycling center located on the property.
In 2000, Sr. Vincent moved to Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY), where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.
Arrangements are handled by Hale–Polin–Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, Kentucky. The visitation begins at 3pm, Thursday, December 22, at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel. The funeral will be held at 10:30am, Friday, December 23, at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
