Dominican Sister of Peace Tuyet Ngoc Tran, OP (74), a native of Gia Coc, Hung Yen, Vietnam, died on November 21, 2023, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Kentucky. Sr. Tuyet is survived by a sister, brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Dominican for 34 years, Sr. Tuyet earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Our Lady of the Elms College (OH); an Associate of Arts in Fashion Design from Santa Ana College (CA) and an Associate of Arts in Human Services at Jefferson Community College (KY). She ministered as a social worker at the Suffolk Mental Health Association in Revere, MA, Lutheran Child and family Services, and Catholic Charity in Watertown, MA, and the Boston Ecumenical Center. Sister also spent three years in Vietnam doing missionary work. In August 2017, Sister came to reside at St. Catharine Motherhouse.
Arrangements are handled by Hale–Polin–Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, Kentucky. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Kentucky from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., and in Magdalen Chapel in St. Catharine Motherhouse beginning at 4:00 p.m. The funeral will be Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery following the service.
