Sr.Rosemary Cina, OP

Dominican Sister of Peace Rosemary Cina, OP (Sr. Miriam Loretto) (85), a native of Brooklyn, New York, died on September 25, 2022, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Kentucky.  Sr. Rosemary is survived by her sister-in-law, Gabrielle Cina, her nephew, Robert Cina and several cousins.

A Dominican for 60 years, Sr. Rosemary earned a Bachelor of Arts in English/Philosophy/Psychology from Siena College (Memphis, TN) and a Master of Arts in Library Science from Rosary College (River Forest, IL).  She ministered as a teacher at Holy Rosary (Springfield, KY); Our Lady of the Wayside (Arlington Heights, IL); St. Theresa (Lincoln, NE); Bishop Donahue (McMechen, WV); and Holy Rosary Academy (Louisville, KY).  Sr. Rosemary was librarian at St. Viator High (Arlington Heights, IL) and Notre Dame Academy (Staten Island, NY).  In 1996, Sister moved to St. Catharine Motherhouse, St. Catharine, KY to assume the position of Administrative Assistant to the Leadership Team of the former Dominican Sisters of St. Catharine, St. Catharine, KY then went on to serve as the Congregational Archivist for several years.  In 2009, she moved to  Watertown, MA where she provided community service at Rosary Manor.  

In 2018, Sr. Rosemary returned to St. Catharine Motherhouse (St. Catharine, KY) where she provided community service.  She began a ministry of prayer and presence at Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY) in 2019.  

Arrangements are handled by Hale – Polin – Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, Kentucky.   Sister chose cremation.  The cremains visitation begins at 3pm, Monday, October 3, at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel. The funeral will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, October 4, at Sansbury Care Center Chapel.  Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
