Sr. Margaret Philip Shaw, OP

Dominican Sister of Peace Margaret Philip Shaw, OP (91), a native of Charlestown, Massachusetts, died on May 22, 2022, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Kentucky.   Sr. Margaret Philip is survived by several nieces and nephews. 

A Dominican for 70 years, Sr. Margaret Philip earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education/English from Siena College (Memphis, TN).  She ministered as a teacher at St. Louis Bertrand (Louisville, KY); St. Mary (Williamstown, NJ); St. Philip Neri (Omaha, NE); Blessed Sacrament (Grand Island, NE); St. John the Evangelist (Cambridge, MA); SS Simon and Jude (Louisville, KY); Rosary Academy (Watertown, MA) and St. Patrick (Watertown, MA).  Sr. Margaret Philip was also principal/teacher at St. John the Evangelist (Lima, OH).  In 1992, she was a parish minister at St. Patrick Parish (Watertown, MA).  Sr. Margaret Philip provided community service from 1994-2004 at Rosary Manor (Watertown, MA).

In 2004, Sr. Margaret Philip moved to St. Catharine Motherhouse (St. Catharine, KY), and in 2007, she moved to Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY) where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.

Arrangements are handled by Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, Kentucky. The visitation begins at 3:00pm, Wednesday, June 1, at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel.  The funeral will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, June 2, at Sansbury Care Center Chapel.  Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
