Sr. Doris Lee Mingus, OP

Dominican Sister of Peace Doris Lee Mingus, OP (83), a native of Louisville, Kentucky, died on March 11, 2024, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Kentucky.  Sr. Doris was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Hanshew.  She is survived by one brother, Ronnie (Louisville, KY), and two sisters, Ruth Ann Burke (Louisville, KY) and Rita Hasty (Taylorsville, KY), along with several nieces and nephews.

A Dominican for 63 years, Sr. Doris earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Spalding College (Louisville, KY).  She ministered as a teacher at St. Rose (Springfield, KY); St. Brendan (Elkins, WV); Immaculate Heart (Louisville, KY); Our Lady of Peace (Chicago, IL); Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (Louisville, KY); SS Simon and Jude (Louisville, KY); West End Catholic (Louisville, KY); and St. Dominic School for Boys (Memphis, TN).  Sr. Doris provided community service as well as Pastoral Care for Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY). From 2006-2018, Sr. Doris was the receptionist at St. Catharine Motherhouse (St. Catharine, KY).

In 2018, Sr. Doris moved to Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY), where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.

Arrangements are handled by Hale–Polin–Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, Kentucky. The visitation begins at 3pm, Thursday, March 14, at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel.  The funeral will be held at 10:30am, Friday, March 15, at Sansbury Care Center Chapel.  Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
