Dominican Sister of Peace Christine Loughlin, OP (82), a native of Watertown, Massachusetts, died on June 24, 2022, at Norton Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky. Christine is survived by her sister, Rita Scudder, and several nieces and nephews.
A Dominican for 62 years, Sr. Christine ministered as a teacher in schools in New York, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Massachusetts. From 1982 to 2021, she ministered at Crystal Spring Ecology Center in Plainville, Massachusetts. As Director, Sr. Christine was committed to building communities of peace and promoting care for Sacred Creation. In recent years she worked extensively with the Religious Lands Conservancy as well as Nones and Nuns. She moved to St. Catharine Motherhouse in October 2021.
Sister earned a Masters in English Literature in 1973 from St. John University, a Masters in Theology Studies in 1990 from Weston School of Theology and a Bachelors in English/Ed in 1968 from Siena College.
Arrangements are handled by Hale–Polin–Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, Kentucky. Visitation is Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in Magdalen Chapel at St. Catharine Motherhouse. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, in Magdalen Chapel at St. Catharine Motherhouse. Interment will follow in the St. Catharine Cemetery.
