Dominican Sister of Peace Ann Davette Moran, OP (88), a native of Brooklyn, New York, died on December 11, 2019, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Kentucky. Sr. Ann Davette is survived by one sister Eileen Casserly, sister-in-law Margaret Moran and several nieces and nephews.
A Dominican for 67 years, Sr. Ann Davette earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies/Education/History from Siena College (Memphis, TN) and a Master of Arts in Education/Guidance/Counseling from Loras College (Dubuque, IA). She ministered as a teacher at St. John Berchmans (Chicago, IL); St. James (Kearney, NE); St. Teresa (Lincoln, NE); Resurrection School (Brooklyn, NY) and Little Peoples Play School (Brooklyn, NY). She was a teacher/superior at St. Michael (Orland Park, IL). Sr. Ann Davette was a teacher and part-time guidance counselor at St. Vincent Ferrer in Brooklyn, NY. She also worked in the Diocesan drug prevention program at St. Vincent Ferrer. In 1983, Sister was the head residence counselor at Boys Hope (Staten Island, NY). In 1997, she was the receptionist at Resurrection Parish (Brooklyn, NY). Sr. Ann Davette continued ministering at Resurrection Parish through grief counseling. In 2006, her ministry involved visiting at Holy Family Nursing Home in Brooklyn, NY.
In 2010, Sr. Ann Davette moved to Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY), where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.
Arrangements are handled by Hale–Polin–Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, Kentucky. The visitation begins at 3pm, Wednesday, December 18, at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel. The funeral will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, December 19 at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
