Dominican Sister of Peace Ann Frederick Leonard, OP (97), a native of Belmont, Massachusetts, died on April 16, 2025, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Kentucky. Sr. Ann Frederick is survived by one sister, Martha Trask, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Dominican for 78 years, Sr. Ann Frederick earned a Bachelor of Arts in English/Education/Philosophy/Psychology from Siena College (Memphis, TN) and a Master of Arts in Mathematics from Boston College (Chestnut Hill, MA). She ministered as a teacher at St. Augustine (Jeffersonville, IN); St. Michael (Lowell, MA) and Sacred Heart (East Boston, MA). Sister was principal at Holy Rosary Academy (Louisville, KY). Sr. Ann Frederick spent many years at St. Catharine College, St. Catharine, KY in various roles: as instructor, director of the media center, dean of students, resource center director and as a volunteer math tutor. Sister had a deep love for the College.
In 2013, Sr. Ann Frederick moved to Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY), where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.
Arrangements are handled by Hale–Polin–Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, Kentucky. The visitation begins at 3pm, Wednesday, April 23, at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel. The funeral will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, April 24, at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
