Robert Osborne Obituary

Robert Martin Osborne age 81 of Mt. Washington, formerly of Fredericktown, died at 6:54 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Baptist Health Louisville.

Born March 10, 1942 in Washington County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Leonard and Mary Alice Elder Osborne, his wife, Dorothy Mae Wheatley Osborne, March 3, 2023 and two brothers, Joseph Leonard "J.L." and Joseph Larry Osborne.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served from 1962 till 1966 in Mississippi and the Azores, Portugal.  He had a lifelong love of the Air Force and airplanes, especially the Boeing B-52 and had a collection of books and magazines on both.  He loved visiting the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.  He was employed at L & N / CSX Railroad for 36 and a half years.  He was a brakeman and traveled between Louisvillle and Evansville on the caboose until they were done away with.  He also loved western movies and ha quite the collection of DVDs.  He also loved Classic Cars, especially the 1957 Chevy Bel Air and Impala SS. He had been a member of St. Francis Xavier Cathollic Church in Mt. Washington.

He is survived by his four children, Sandra Osborne Burke (John Paul) of Fisherville, Robert M. Osborne Jr. (Michelle) of Elk Creek, Jennifer Osborne of Louisville and John Christopher Osborne (Guiying) of Madison, Alabama, eight grandchildren, Christopher Michael Underwood (Nicole), Sean Matthew Osborne, Joseph Edward Osborne, James Andrew Osborne, Marissa Renee Osborne, Sarah Michelle Osborne, Jacob Alexander Osborne and Jasmine Cecilia Osborne.  Three great grandchildren, Christopher Alexander Underwood, Katrina Elizabeth Underwood an Bridget Marie Underwood.  He is also survived by two brothers, William Frederick "Fred" Osborne (Ginny Ann) and Tommy Osborne (Margaret) all of Bardstown and two sisters, Mary Frances Puckett (Donnie) of Winchester and Susan Montgomery of Lebanon.

Funeral mass fro Robert Martin Osborne will be conducted at 10:00 am Monday, March 11, 2024 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Pier Giorgio Dengler, O.P. officiating.  Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery with military honors conducted by Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be John Christopher, Robert, Jocob and James Osborne, John Paul Burke an Christopher Underwood.

A prayer service will be held at 5:30 pm Sunday at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 pm Sunday and again from 7:00 am till 9:30 am Monday morning.
