Mary Olivia Hinton Montgomery age 99, of Springfield, died at 2:30 am Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary at Nerinx where she had resided since November 2021.
Born December 17, 1922 in Washington County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin L. and Mary Olivia Green Hinton, her husband, Charles E. Montgomery in 1966, two sons, Charles and Billy Bruce Montgomery, a daughter-in-law, Shirley Montgomery, five brothers, William Leo, Alvin, Robert, George and Frank Hinton and four sisters, Mary Corinne Tudder, Dorothy Claypool, Mayola Hinton and Helen Jones.
She served as Washington County Treasurer for 16 years, was a lifelong member of St. Dominic Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society, was a lector and eucharist minister, was a member of Lincoln Homestead Woman's Club and was an avid golfer until the age of 91.
She is survived by two sons, Sammy Montgomery and Vince (Debbie) Montgomery all of Springfield, a brother, Joe Hinton and a special friend, Barbara Rosser of Lexington, three grandchildren, Charles Montgomery, Sammy Montgomery Jr. and Kasey Montgomery and five great grandchildren, Madison and Jacob Montgomery, Mason and Aden Gardner and Thomas Cheek.
Funeral mass for Mary Olivia Hinton Montgomery will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday, September 15, 2022 at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin Brien, Rev. David Farrell, Rev. Culpepper Elliott and Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sammy, Vince, Charles, Sam and Jacob Montgomery and Mason Gardner.
A prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 14 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:30 till 8:00 pm Wednesday and again from 7:00 am till 9:30 am Thursday morning.
