Martha Marie Warren was born on September 17, 1953, just five minutes after twin brother, Marcus Lee, to Herman and Clara Warren in Marion County, Kentucky. She finished her life’s journey on August 27, 2024.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, a brother (Tom in 1984), and a sister (Becky in 2017).
Martha leaves behind a daughter, Shannon Waldron, and a granddaughter Sydney Olivia Waldron, who was her pride and joy. Martha’s remaining siblings are Joe (Cathy) Warren, Marion (Joan) Warren, Francine Prechtel, Eileen Watts, John (Jeannine) Warren, Steve Warren, Barbara Guenthner, Mark (Helen) Warren, Jeanine (Bill) Fowler, Lois (Roscoe) Burns, Carol Warren, and Ann (Shane) Greenwell. She also had many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her.
Martha graduated from Washington County High School in Springfield, KY in 1971. She began her professional career the same year at Naval Ordnance Station in Louisville, KY. When it closed, she became a federal government contractor. Her job took her to Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, New Jersey, and finally Indiana. She worked from home for Nashville VA Hospital until she retired on May 24 of this year.
In the course of her work, she earned a Master of Business Administration degree. Martha enjoyed hobbies such as sewing, quilting, and landscaping her yard. She also enjoyed her furry friends, a Shih Tzu named Zeke, an Aussie named Nala, and a stray cat named Indy.
Martha was an independent person and very generous with her time and funds. She sponsored a child from the Philippines for years. She volunteered at the American Legion GI Joe Post 244 Auxiliary in Jeffersontown, KY, as well as anywhere she was needed.
Memorial services and interment will be held on at 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM (EST) on September 8, 2024 at Legacy Funeral Center - Scott Chapel 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, IN 47130.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (EST).
Inurnment will take place at 3:30 pm Sunday, September 8, 2024 at St. Rose Cemetery where her cremains will be buried with her brother Tom.
