Martha Cecelia (Smith) Vize

Martha Cecelia Smith Vize, 93, of St. Rose-Lebanon Rd., Springfield, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2019, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born December 18, 1925 in Washington County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Della Blandford Smith; her husband, Joseph "Buck" Vize; two daughters, Carolyn Roution and Brenda Johnson; ; five brothers, Ed, Scout, Foster, Pete and Albert "Snookes" Smith; and four sisters, Alma Carrico, Isabelle Johnson, Teresa Smith and Mary Ann Garrett. 

She is survived by four sons, Joe (Gloria) Vize of Bardstown, Frank (Lois) Vize, Chip (Janice) and Mike Vize all of Springfield; four daughters, Rita Vize, Patsy (David) Johnson, Nancy Vize and Mary Vize, all of Springfield ; two sons-in-law, J.C. Johnson and James Roution both of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several step-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019, at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating.  Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby, Gary, Joe and Brian Johnson, John Vize and Joe Pat Cecil.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tammy Cecil, Renee Kehm, Melissa Byrd, Amanda Phelps, Cathy Mattingly, Tina Cambron and Becky Reynolds.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12th from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., and on Thursday from 7:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home.
