Marilyn J. Watkins

Marilyn J. Watkins age 85, of Springfield, KY passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Sansbury Care Center at St. Catharine, KY.

She was born on April 5, 1940 to the late Joseph Edward and Elizabeth Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Beech Watkins along with four brothers, Johnny, Edward Samuel, Charles Owen and Howard Smith and three sisters, Althaire Lucas, Shirley Mattingly and Louise Lanham.

She was retired from Washington County Public Schools.  Marilyn grew up in the St. Rose Catholic Church and was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.  She enjoyed reading, cooking and was a fine seamstress.

She is survived by two daughters, Gwen (John) Reynolds of Springfield and Susan Cruse of Lexington, four grandchildren, Thomas and Christopher Reynolds, Courtney Cruse and Kristen Cruse May (Scott), three brothers, Thomas Herbert (Bonnie) Smith and Ronnie (Bonnie) Smith of Springfield and J.R. Smith of Lexington, three sisters, Minnie Fay Smith, Linda (Mickey) Blanford and Frances Medley all of Springfield.

Funeral mass for Marilyn J. Watkins will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, July 7, 2025 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Springfield with Rev. Terry Bradshaw and Rev. Pier Giorgio Dengler, O.P. officiating.  Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Blanford, Brian, Nicholas and Joey Smith, Jason Buckman, John Michael Medley, Gary Spalding and Troy Lanham.

A prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday, July 6 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home with Deacon Joe Dant officiating.

Friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 pm Sunday and again from 7:00 am till 10;30 am Monday morning at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home.
