Lawrence Patrick "Larry" Edelen age 88, of Walnut St., Springfield passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and family on Friday, August 26, 2022.
He was born August 7, 1934 in Washington County to the late J. Thomas and Stella Martha Hill Edelen. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Vic Peterson, a grandson-in-law, Scott Smith, three brothers, Thomas, Julian and Fred Edelen, five sisters, Dorothy Medley, Martha Fey, Mary Belle Wheatley, Mary Elizabeth Edelen and Borgia Paulsen.
He was a construction executive with Nally & Gibson and Nally & Haydon for 46 years, was U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany, was a 3rd degree member of Council 4270 Knights of Columbus in Springfield and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
Larry loved a spirited game of golf with his friends, staying active on many projects, taking a daily walk but most importantly spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Paul Ryan Edelen, two sons, Ben (Brenda) Edelen of Lexington and Tim (Mary) Edelen of Bowling Green, three daughters, Lynne Edelen of Versailles, Ann Peterson of Lebanon and Fran (Kevin) Clegg of Redondo Beach, California, a brother, Bob (Evelyn) Edelen of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, a sister, Mary Jo Hamilton of Bardstown, ten grandchildren, Emily Smith, Michael and Paul Peterson, Laura Gentry, Rudy, Ryan and Austin Edelen, Walker, Annabelle and Hadley Clegg, five great grandchildren, Carlie and Hudson Smith, Thea and Cleo Peterson and William Gentry.
Funeral Mass for Lawrence Patrick "Larry" Edelen will be conducted at 12 noon Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Walker Clegg, Rudy and Austin Edelen, Michael and Paul Peterson and Ryan Edelen.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am till 11:30 am Monday morning at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home.
