Josephine "Joann" Reed Cooper age 81, formerly of Springfield, died at 4:33 am Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Norton Womens and Children Hospital in Louisville.
Born November 24, 1940 in Washington County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Eugene and Florence Cecilia Wakefield Reed, a daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Cooper, March 24, 2018, a granddaughter, Joanna Lee Cooper, May 29, 2017 and a sister, Sara Catherine Reed.
She was a graduate of St. Catharine College, worked as a Rural Special Project Coordinator with the Office of Multicultural Rural Ministry, Archdiocese of Louisville and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest "Gus" Cooper of Louisville, two sons, Ernest Eugene "Gene" (Pam) Cooper of Elk Grove, California and Christopher "Len" (Mia) Cooper of Louisville, a daughter, Patricia Lee (Paul) Newby of Louisville, five grandchildren, Christinia, Elizabeth, Anthony and Noah Cooper and Kylie Newby.
Funeral mass will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. John Judie, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, Rev. Edmund Ditton, O.P. and Deacon James Turner officiating. Burial will be in St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gerard and Phil Cooper, Ted Key, Billy Wakefield, Mike Wright and Darnell Young.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am till time of service at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 1 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
