Joseph Leo Carrico age 83 of Carrico Ln., Springfield, died at 10:44 am Monday, April 10, 2023 at his residence.
Born August 29, 1939 in Washington County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest Albertus and Mary Ella Smith Carrico and five brothers, Jake, Maurice, Robert, Russell and Emanuel Carrico.
He was Co-owner and operator of Springfield Laundry & Dry Cleaners for 50 years, was a 3rd degree member of Council 4270 Knights of Columbus, Springfield, a member of Springfield Lions Club where he had received the Marvin Jones Fellow award and was President of KY Fabricare Assn. from 1986 until 2005. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Regina Smith Carrico, two sons, Forrest (Faye) Carrico and Steven (Dana) Carrico all of Springfield, three daughters, Shirley (Dudley) Tapp and Lisa (Johnny) Wheatley all of Springfield and Myra (Russ) Kelemen of Frankfort, one brother, Jimmie (Rebecca) Carrico of Springfield, four sisters, Isabelle Begley and Louise Cambron both of Springfield, Helen Smith and Rhudell Fowler both of Louisville, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral mass for Joseph Leo Carrico will be conducted at 10:00 am Friday, April 14, 2023 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. David Farrell and Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joseph and Thomas Tapp, Wesley, Daniel, Payton and Mason Carrico and Owen Kelemen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth Raley, Sarah Smith, Andrea Heibert, Bethany and Jordan Wheatley and Ann Thomas Kelemen.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, April 13 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 pm Thursday and again from 7:00 am till 9:30 am Friday morning.
