James "Jimmy" Lyles Obituary

James Andrew Lyles, born April 7, 1960, entered eternal rest on -February 3rd, 2026. Jimmy was a man of strength, intelligence, and a deeply kind spirit whose presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

In his younger years, Jimmy was an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer, proudly winning the Amateur Youth Golden Gloves in Louisville, Kentucky—an achievement that reflected his discipline, determination, and perseverance. He later devoted many years to working as a skilled mason, where his strong work ethic and craftsmanship were evident in everything he did.

Jimmy was a proud Prince Hall 33rd Degree Mason, a distinction that reflected his lifelong commitment to brotherhood, integrity, service, and leadership. His dedication to the principles of Freemasonry was evident in how he carried himself and how he treated others—with honor, respect, and compassion.

Above all, Jimmy was known for his loving heart. He was intelligent, gentle, and generous—a kind soul who cared deeply for others and valued family above all. His wisdom, compassion, and quiet strength will be dearly missed.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Belgium Lyles, and his beloved son, Terris Trigg.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Alma B and James Edelen of Springfield, Kentucky; his wife, Deanna Lyles of Ringgold, Georgia; his children: daughters Leitcha Ellery of Bardstown, Kentucky, Angelica Haffner of Georgia and Jessica Haffner of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; and his son, James Kevontes Taylor (Jennifer) of Arizona.

He is also survived by his brothers Tony Burton, Carl "Peno" Burton (Jennifer), Frank Burton (Vickie), and JT Burton (Carla); his sisters Peggy Willhite, Delina Burton, Carolyn Montgomery (Lovell), Twilla Johnson (Stan), and Crystal-Burton Blunt (Sedrick); along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
