James (Jimmy) Higdon Obituary

James Marion "Jimmy" Higdon age 69, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Springfield, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida.

Born March 29, 1949 in Louisville, KY, he was preceded in death by his parent, Francis Arvil and Mary Catherine Smith Higdon, a brother, John Henry Higdon and two sisters, Maria Goretti Higdon and Mary Evelyn Grindle.

He was a native of New Haven, a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Vietnam War, had worked at Lily Tulip in Bardstown in Flexo Printing department and had been a Router Operator at Ruggles Sign Co.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Church Higdon of Winter Haven, Florida, two sons, John (Jenny) Higdon of Springfield and SSG James (Kelsey) Higdon Jr. of Lexington, four daughters, Teri Murphy of Cox's Creek, Laura (Greg) Nalley and Sabrina (Michael) McKinley all of Bardstown and Kim (Jim) Higdon of Springfield, a foster son, Patrick (Dee) Dyer of El Paso, Texas, seven brothers, Rev. Francis B. Higdon, M.M. of New York, Joseph Donald (Joanne) Higdon of Tuscon, Arizona, Charles William (Norma) of Pickerington, Ohio, Francis Arvil (Barbara) Higdon Jr. of Euless, Texas, William Anthony (Sue) Higdon of Payson, Arizona, Thomas Wayne (Nancy) Higdon of Tacoma, Washington and Paul Vincent (Janice) Higdon of Louisville, three sisters, Patricia Barnes and Joan Marie (Francis) Mattingly all of Loretto and Norma Lindgren of Winter Haven, Florida, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Culpepper Elliott and Rev. Francis B. Higdon, M.M. officiating.  Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery in New Haven with full military honors conducted by Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers are Eli Hinton (Grandson), Owen Hinton (Grandson), Jose Meija (Friend), Ray Cooper (Friend), Tommy Higdon (Brother), Michael Mckinley (Son-in-law), Gretchen Kirzinger (Granddaughter)

Visitation will be from 3:00 till 8:00 pm Tuesday, Nov. 21 and again from 7:00 till 9:15 am Wednesday at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday.
