James Ivo "Jim" Edelen age 84 of Virginia Ave., Springfield passed away on March 24, 2025 at his residence.
Born September 29, 1940 in Washington County, he was preceded in death by his parents, James Raymond and Mary Ruth Fowler Edelen, his wife, Jennie Lou Blandford Edelen, September 23, 2014, two sons, Damian Craig Edelen, December 7, 1993 and James Kevin Edelen, May 5, 2019 and two brothers, Billy Ray Edelen and Joe Edelen.
He was a graduate of Fredericktown High School, worked as a Lineman for South Central Bell for 40 + years, was a 3rd degree member of Council 4270 Knights of Columbus in Springfield and was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
He is survived by three granddaughters, Amanda (Bart) Whitmore of Magnolia, Jessica (Robert) Hart of Springfield and Savannah (Cole Thompson) Edelen of Springfield, two daughters-in-law, Sharon Mattingly Edelen and Nancy Hagan Edelen both of Springfield, two sisters-in-law, Myra Blandford of Springfield and Margaret Edelen of Fredericktown, seven great grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral mass for James Ivo "Jim" Edelen will be conducted at 10:00 am Friday, March 28, 2025 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Pier Georgio Dengler, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bart Whitmore, Robert Hart, Cole Thompson, Bobby Sutton, Larry Hamilton and Joe Neel
A prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home with Deacon Joe Ray Dant officiating.
Friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 pm Thursday and again from 7:00 am till 9:30 am Friday morning at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home who is entrusted with arrangements.
