James Francis Hill age 86 of Holy Cross Rd., Loretto, formerly of Washington County, died Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at his residence.
Born March 9, 1936 in Washington County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Thaddeus and Harriett Frances Mattingly Hill, his wife, Mattie Mae Curtsinger Hill, April 25, 1999, Daughter-Mary Jane Blandford, April 24, 2016, a granddaughter, Fran Blandford, March 11, 2000, a daughter-in-law, Lisa Hill, June 12, 2020, five brothers, Louis, Marvin, Leaks, Tom and Raymond Hill and three sisters, Mary Johnson, Corine Downs and Polly McDonald.
He was a farmer, had worked at the former Lily Tulip plant in Bardstown, was owner and operator with his son-in-law Albert Blandford at Hill and Blandford Store in Loretto, was a self- employed construction operator, had worked at both St. Rose farm and Loretto Motherhouse farm, Robert Haydon farm in Manton and was an avid antique dealer and yard seller. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Hill of Loretto and Timmy Hill of New Hope, a former daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Hill of Bardstown, a daughter, Frances (Randy) Settles of Springfield, a sister, Helen Montaleonia of Tampa, Florida, a son-in-law, Albert Blandford of Springfield, 9 grandchildren, Regina Montgomery, Lisa Hall, Michael Settles, Stephanie Harmon, Jessica Sheerhorn, Brad Hill, Megan Chesser, Natasha Thompson and Kinsey Hill, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and a special friend, Anna Mae Willett of New Hope.
Funeral mass for James Francis Hill will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday, September 10, 2022 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. and Deacon Donnie Coulter officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael and Randy Settles, Brad and Ronnie Hill, Shane and Trampus "BoBo" Montgomery, Albert Blandford and Dallas and Spencer Smith.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, September 9 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 pm Friday and again from 7:00 am till 9:30 am Saturday morning.
