James Robert "Bob" Barber age 92, of North Locust St., Springfield, died at 10:30 am Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at his residence.
Born December 3, 1928 in Washington County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Phletus and Maude Estille Mudd Barber, his first wife, Betty Ann Mudd Barber, December 14, 1985; 2 sons, James and Herman Barber; three brothers, Joe, P.S. and Aaron Barber and six sisters, Delena Simms Brooks, Angela Wimsatt, Margaret Kelly, Sister Frances Barber, Sister Maude Barber and Catherine Yancey Edelen.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, was a salesman for Newcomb Oil Co. for 40 years and was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley McGill Lanham Barber, five sons, Paul Barber of Louisville, John Richard Lanham, F. Giles (Jennifer) Lanham and Robert (Tierney) Lanham all of Louisville and Stephen L. Lanham of Madison County, KY, four daughters, Betty Hamilton of Fredericktown, Rochelle (Bob) Copeland of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jackie Spalding of Bardstown and Marianne Lanham Hay of Louisville, two sisters, Sister Catherine Therese Barber of Mt. St. Joseph and Mary Ann Bowling of Bardstown, 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be private with burial in St. Rose Cemetery.
