Howard Joe Young Jr.

Howard Joe Young Jr. age 59, of Locust St., Springfield, passed away at 5:30 pm Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

Born June 29, 1966 in Lebanon, he was preceded in death by his father, Howard Joe Young Sr., July 17, 2001, a brother, Robert Lee Young, February 13, 1994, a sister, Mary Frances Linton, September 29, 1979 and a step son, Christian Hernandez in 2024.

He was Driver and Deliveryman for Springfield Laundry for 19 years, was a 1985 graduate of Washington County High School and was a member of Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Springfield.

Howard was an avid sports fan who adored spending his free time with his one and only grandson, Jordan Rashaud Young.  We will miss his love, funny stories and his infectious spirit.

Howard Joe was a father, son, uncle, and beloved friend to many.  He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Flora Nell Reed Young of Springfield, his son, Jordan Young of Springfield, three step children, Josh (Torie) Riley, Dillion Hernandez and Jordon Carmona all of Springfield, three brothers, Carl Thomas Linton and Jimmy (April) Young of Springfield, Adrain Young of Springfield, a sister, Tamica Linton of Springfield, his fiancé, Darlene Riley of Springfield, and a grandson, Jordan Rashaud Young.

Funeral Services for Howard Joe Young will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday at Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion church with Rev. Roland Puryear, pastor of Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion church officiating with burial in Cemetery Hill.

Pallbearers will be Greg Yocum, Martin and Henry Keen, David and Dupree Churchill and Rudolph Trigg.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am till time of service on Wednesday at Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
