Francis Maurice Smith age 84 of W. High St., Springfield, died at 7:30 pm Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
Born March 24, 1934 in Washington County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Henry and Diana Logsdon Smith, a son, Frank Aloysius Smith, Oct. 7, 2000, a son-in-law, Nicky Hamilton, Jan. 16, 2013, two sisters, Margaret Johnson and Janie Durbin and four brothers, Rev. Bernard Smith, O.P., Dan Smith, Tommy Smith and James Bernard Smith.
He was a fork lift operator at Barton Brands in Bardstown for over 30 years and was an officer in the union.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Mudd Smith of Springfield, 5 daughters, Sherry Hamilton of Springfield, Lou Ann (Mike) Smith of Louisville, Angela (Thomas) Haydon, Susan (Philip) Haydon and Kaye Smith all of Springfield, a son, Butch (Debbie) Smith of Louisa, a sister, Carolyn Warlop of Indianapolis, Indiana, a brother, Don Smith of Springfield, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral mass for Francis Maurice Smith will be conducted at 10:30 am Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fredericktown with Rev. Ben Brown and Rev. Michael Martin officiating. Burial will be in St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 pm Friday and again from 7:00 am till 9:30 am on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Todd Hamilton, Adam, Duke, Justin and Alex Smith, Luke Johnson and Tink and Marshall Haydon.
