Elizabeth Althaire Smith Lucas age 83, a resident of Sansbury Care Center at St. Catharine for the last year, died at 6:20 pm Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Sansbury Care Center.
Born July 18, 1937 in Marion County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Edward and Elizabeth Emily Carrico Smith, her husband, James Roy Lucas, October 29, 2013, four brothers, Johnny Louis, Howard, Charles Owen and Edward "Tinker" Smith and a sister, Shirley Mattingly.
She worked as a sewing machine operator at Cowden Mfg. Co. for 30 years, was a homemaker and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, Donnie Lucas of Bardstown, a daughter, Sherri Osbourne of Springfield, three brothers, Thomas Herbert (Bonnie) Smith and Ronnie (Bonnie) Smith all of Springfield and James Ruben "J.R." Smith of Lexington, five sisters, Minnie Faye Smith, Marilyn Watkins, Linda "Mickey" Blandford, Louise (Ray) Lanham and Frances Medley all of Springfield, three grandchildren, Stephen, Mary Elizabeth and James Francis "Frankie" Osbourne and four great grandchildren, Skyler, Lucas, Kylee and Christian Osbourne.
Funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday, January 14, 2021 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stephen and Frankie Osbourne, Scott Barlow, Frances Hutchins, Christopher Reynolds and Kevin Mattingly.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 pm Wednesday and again from 7:00 am till 9:15 am Thursday morning.
Due to COVID19 pandemic, face masks and social distancing will be required both at the funeral home and the church. No food or drink will be allowed at the funeral home.
