Douglas Lee "Doug" Hamilton age 70 of Loretto Rd., died at 8:20 pm Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at his residence.
Born July 21, 1952 in Lebanon, he was preceded in death by his parents, James Ambrose "Ham" Hamilton, Jan. 17, 1985 and Violet Elizabeth Graves Hamilton, July 11, 2012, two brothers, James Patrick Hamilton, June 24, 1997 and William Nicky Hamilton, Jan. 16, 2013.
He was a 1970 graduate of Washington County High School, a 1972 graduate of St. Catharine College with an associate degree, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era where he served 18 months in Germany, was a machinist at American Greetings in Bardstown for 30 plus years, was a farmer and a lifelong member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Spalding Hamilton, one son, Bradley (Kayla) Hamilton of Springfield, three daughters, Melissa (Philip) Knopp of Jessietown, Jessica (Chad) Filiatreau of Bardstown and Brittany (Jason) Mattingly of Loretto, one brother, Dennis (Lydia) Hamilton of Springfield; three sisters, Phyllis (Mick) Ballard of Samuels, Marlena (John Robert) Filiatreau of Fredericktown and Helen (Tim) Heustis of Louisville, sister-in-law Sherry Hamilton; 12 grandchildren, Brandon and John Knopp, Mya, Madeline and Jacob Filiatreau, Grayson, Logan and Kate Hamilton, Jaxon, Zoey Beth, Colton and Kayson Mattingly.
Funeral mass for Douglas Lee "Doug" Hamilton will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday, July 8, 2023 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Hamilton and Rev. Edmund Ditton, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be The Bus Gang.
Pallbearers will be Brandon and John Knopp, Jacob Filiatreau, Joey Smith, Nick Smith, Carlos and Todd Hamilton, Shawn Mattingly and Matt Medley.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 3:30 till 8:00 pm Friday and again from 7:00 am till 9:30 am Saturday morning.
