David Russell Swart age 76 of Mt. Zion Rd., Willisburg, died at 6:30 am Friday, August 30, 2024 at his residence.
Born September 2, 1947 in Lansing, Michigan, he was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Nicholas and Anna Lou Bottoms Swart.
He was a graduate of Chapman College in Orange, California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years and 23 years in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard and retired as a Master Sgt., had been a contract installation Manager for Management Training Consultants, Inc at Ft. Knox before retiring. He was a catholic and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne Swart, 3 sons, Robert (Gayle) Swart of Ottawa, Illinois, Michael Swart of Jeffersontown, KY and Daniel (Tracy) Swart of LaGrange, 2 daughters, Linda (Lee) Street of Graniteville, South Carolina and Elizabeth (Jonathan) Downs of Bloomfield, 1 sister, Rosemarie (Roland) Wilson of St. Charles, Michigan, 9 grandchildren, Matthew and Jade LaTarte, Zachary and Benjamin Swart, Anderson and Miles Street, Winston, Jebediah and Haywood Downs,
Funeral mass for David Russell Swart will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Culpepper Elliott officiating. Cremation will follow services but there will be military honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard following services outside the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
Visitation will be at St. Dominic Catholic Church from 9:00 am till time of services at 11:00 am Tuesday morning.
