Barbara Ann (Elery) Yarbrough

Barbara Ann Elery Yarbrough age 82, of Madison, Indiana, formerly of Springfield, died at 7:54 pm Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Sansbury Care Center at St. Catharine where she had been a resident since April.

Born June 22, 1938 in Springfield, she was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Hattie Weathers Elery, two brothers, Joseph Leo Elery and Charles Elery and a sister, Rose Elery Stone.

She was raised by her grandparents, the late Sam and Mamie Edelen Elery after her mother died at the age of 23.  She had resided in Madison, Indiana since September 1958.  She was employed in housekeeping earlier in life and later as a certified nursing assistant for 32 and a half years at Madison State Hospital until illness in 1994 and retiring in August, 1994.  She enjoyed bingo, family and friends.  She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Madison.  She was married to the late Roosevelt Yarbrough on May 15, 1965 who died on April 2, 1997.

She is survived by two sons, Curtis Yarbrough of Madison and Tim (Shannon) Yarbrough of Las Vegas, Nevada, a daughter, Tracey Yarbrough of Madison, two brothers, Billy Elery of Lexington and Reggie (Shayla) Elery of Georgetown, six sisters, Martina (Bobby) Burton of Danville, Frances (William) Brazley and Carolyn (Bill) Lee all of Louisville, Cecelia (Larry) Norwood of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Rita Kelly of Cleveland, Ohio and Martha (Rick) Hall of Lexington, five grandchildren, Jordan, Andre, Kylee, Kaelyn and Mataya Yarbrough and two great grandchildren Olivia & Riley Yarbrough.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, June 4, 2021 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Edmund Ditton, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James, Jordan and Brian Keene, Xavier Elery, Jordan Yarbrough and Jason Wheeler.

Visitation will be from 12:30 pm Friday until time of services at 2:00 pm at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home.
